Dear Parents and Carers
As you are aware, Mrs Turner will be retiring at the end of this term at the end
of a long and fruitful career at Crawley Green Infant School. Since Mrs Turner announced her retirement last term, the school's governing body have been working with the local authority to find and appoint a new head teacher for the school.
After advertising the post, we were pleased to receive a number of good applications and yesterday we interviewed two strong contenders for the role. After an intensive programme of activities, tasks and interviews, one applicant emerged as an outstanding future head teacher and an excellent match for the school. We are delighted to announce that we have appointed Miss Gemma O'Neill as the next head teacher of Crawley Green Infants School. This appointment is subject to the usual formal checks and Miss O'Neill should be starting here after the Easter holidays on April 16.
Throughout the interview day, Miss O'Neill demonstrated excellent leadership qualities and a keen insight into the school. She was able to demonstrate that she has the skills and experience required for the post and that she understands and shares the school's values. Miss O'Neill led a Year 1 assembly and met with the Eco Team and these children spoke very highly of her.
Mrs Turner will be working with Miss O'Neill to prepare for next term to ensure a smooth handover. We are confident that parents, carers and staff will want to make her welcome here and will support her in her new role.
Mr J Hunt
Chair of Governors
