Dinner day 2016....a day when some parents and grandparents joined us at lunchtime to share our vegetables which have been grown, harvested and cleaned by the children.
Apples from our orchard and blackberries picked in our school grounds provided a wonderful Blackberry and apple crumble. Potatoes, carrots, onions and cabbage were the veg of the day.
During environmental studies your children are involved in growing food for the school kitchen- although sometimes it is picked, podded and eaten immediately!
The children learn valuable life skills through gardening, which provides practical experiences, fresh healthy food and the opportunity to spend time outside and to be active.
Dinner day is not only a special day when we can share school grown food but also about celebrating our fantastic school catering staff.
Thank you Mrs Perrott and your team for providing a super meal which everyone enjoyed.
