‘Phil’ the Bag
As part of our ongoing commitment to recycling and because it is ‘Waste Week’ we have again signed up to ‘Phil the Bag’, a fundraising programme which recycles your old unwanted clothing and turns it into cash.
The money raised will, as always be donated to Coco’s Foundation (www.cocosfoundation.co.uk). The foundation is committed to the continuous support of the Ubombo children’s orphanage in South Africa.
Last year you raised £80.00 and together with the funds from the 2015 school disco we now have £458.60 to donate to Coco’s Foundation.
Chris Connors the founder of Coco’s Foundation will again be talking to your children, giving us an update on how the money will be used as well as showing videos of the children from the orphanage shopping for school uniform with money we donated in 2014.
‘Phil the Bag’ not only develops the children’s sense of enterprise but also teaches them about the importance of recycling and how we can protect the environment. Did you know that textiles make up 12% of landfill sites?
The more clothing we collect – adult and children’s clothing, shoes, handbags, belts, hats and household textiles including sheets, pillow cases, duvet covers, curtains and towels the more money we will receive in exchange for these products.
You can support our ‘Phil the Bag’ fundraising programme by donating your unwanted textiles in the bag provided (or any bag) and bringing them into school on our ‘Phil the Bag’ Recycle Day –Thursday 10 March 2015. We have a collection area for the bags by the car park gates. Please bring your bags in the morning when you come to school.
So if you normally throw out your unwanted clothes or have bits and pieces gathering dust in the wardrobe, please use them to ‘Phil’ the bag! Don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a good clear out too!
PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THAT THE CLOTHING IS FOR RE-USE SO SHOULD BE IN A WEARABLE CONDITION.
With your help I’m sure we can raise more than last year!
I look forward to receiving your support for this fantastic fundraising initiative.
