‘Phil’ the Bag ™
We have signed up again to an innovative fundraising programme called ‘Phil the Bag’, which recycles your old and unwanted clothing and turns it into cash for the school which we donate to charity.
‘Phil the Bag’ not only develops the children’s sense of enterprise but also teaches them about the importance of recycling and how we can protect the environment. Did you know that textiles make up 12% of landfill sites?
This fundraising initiative also allows us to raise funds – the more clothing we collect – adult and children’s clothing, shoes, handbags, belts, hats, curtains, towels and bedding - the more money we will receive in exchange for these products.
You can support our ‘Phil the Bag’ fundraising programme by donating your unwanted textiles. Please provide your own bag this year as there have been problems with obtaining ‘Phil the Bag’ bags. Bring them into school on our ‘Phil the Bag’ Recycle Day. Thursday 9th March – before 9am. We have a collection area for the bags by the car park gates. So if you normally throw out your unwanted clothes or have bits and pieces gathering dust in the wardrobe, please use them to ‘Phil’ the bag! Don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a good clear out too! (Items are accepted in any type of bag and in any condition, as those items that cannot be reused are recycled).
Bring your shoes in a separate carrier bag and receive £400 per tonne!!!
With your donations you raised an amazing £91 – and together with the £420.81 from the 2016 school disco - we were able to donate £511.81 to Coco’s Foundation. The foundation is committed to the continuous support of the Ubombo children’s orphanage in South Africa. The funds we raise this year will also go to Coco’s Foundation.
With your help I’m sure we can raise more than last year!
We look forward to receiving your support for this fantastic fundraising initiative.
