Yr R Dell Farm visit

Wednesday 22 March 2017

Dear Parents/Carers

We are pleased to tell you that we have arranged for all children in the Reception Classes (Triangle, Circle and Square) to visit Dell Farm, Whipsnade, Dunstable on Tuesday 2 May 2017.

The children will be finding out about homes and habitats of animals in woodlands around the farm using the story of The Gruffalo and Bear Hunt as inspiration.

They will be outside all day so warm clothing and wellington boots are essential. Please ensure your child comes dressed appropriately for a day outdoors (non-uniform).

We are happy that the environment and the activities provided are appropriate for children aged 4-5 years. All staff are very aware of health and safety issues involved in any school visit, and, in particular, visits to farms. There are ample washing facilities there and staff will ensure that children’s hands are washed after touching any animals and before eating.

The cost of the visit will be £10 per child, which will go towards the cost of the coach fare to the Farm - as you may well realise, the school is subsidising this visit. This cost is voluntary, and any parent who feels unable to make a voluntary contribution should please speak in confidence to Ms P Boyes. This trip has been arranged on the understanding that most parents/carers are willing to contribute, otherwise it may not be able to take place.

Please note: For those parents/carers who currently claim Pupil Premium are exempt from making a contribution as the cost will be met by the Pupil Premium Grant.

All the children will be provided with a healthy packed lunch and a drink on the day unless you inform us that you will provide your child with their own healthy packed lunch, including a drink in a disposable carton (no glass bottles or fizzy drinks please) in a disposable named carrier bag. No spending money will be required. No sweets please.

The coaches (all fitted with seatbelts) will leave school at 9.30 am prompt - so the children should arrive at school at the normal time promptly and be collected at the normal time.

DEADLINE DATE - Kindly complete the permission slip overleaf and return with the money to school by Friday 21 April 2017 latest.

If you have any other questions or concerns then please talk to your child’s class teacher.

Yours sincerely

G Turner (Mrs)

Headteacher
